UNITED
STATES CODE SECTION 2340A |
||
Named after the federal law that makes torture a crime, US CODE SECTION 2340A is a response to our government's use of so-called "coercive interogation techniques" aaplied to detainees in the "war on terror" and the leaking of Justice Department memoranda which defend the use of torture during interrogations. Dismayed by the public's tactic acceptance of this policy of torture, artists Serena Wellen and Nancy Popp responded with a video which pairs the dehumanizing language of the jsutice department's legal counsel with the sound of a populace inured to the specacle of torture in the media. |
